Galway and Cork lead the way with ORIS grant approvals
GRD has secured approvals of almost €80,000 funding under the Outdoor Recreation Infrastructure Scheme (ORIS) for Mountbellew, the Hymany Way (Portumna to Ballygar) and the Shannon Riverside Walkway near Eyrecourt. The investment will be key to enhancing outdoor amenities such as walkways, cycleways, rivers and lakes across the county.

The Galway Sports Partnership has signed up to be part of a Sport Ireland led initiative, a nationwide Couch – 2k programme, delivered through the Local Sports Partnership’s.
Applications invited for SICAP Training Panel
Galway Rural Development is to create a panel of qualified trainers, from which individuals and companies will be chosen to take part in a mini competition to deliver training for Galway Rural Development (GRD), under its SICAP Programme , as and when a need arises. The panel will remain open until 31st December 2023.
Activator Pole Walking Course was a great success in Ballinasloe
Limbering up in Ballinasloe, this Activator Pole Walking training, funded through SICAP, went very well and there is currently a ACTIVATOR TRAINERS WORKSHOP , being run out by Fitwalk Ieland and funded by Galway Sport Partnership for people professionally involved in physical fitness.
Smart Villages kicks-off
The Smart Villages training programme, presented by Cramden-Tech on behalf of Galway Rural Development, commenced for Mountbellew at the end of November.
