Smart Villages kicks-off

The Smart Villages training programme, presented by Cramden-Tech on behalf of Galway Rural Development, commenced for Mountbellew at the end of November. The LEADER-funded training seeks to engage the Mountbellew community to build capacity and develop action plans for future projects and developments, chosen by the locals themselves. Mountbellew was selected as the first village to pilot this programme in County Galway. The scheme will be rolled out country wide in the next year.

Pictured at the launch of Mountbellew ‘Smart Villages’ were Senator Aisling Dolan, Steve Dolan (CEO, Galway Rural Development), Anne-Marie Cunningham (Mountbellew District Development Association), Tracey Noone (Chairperson, MDDA), Maria Walsh MEP, Marylin Fleming (MDDA), Sean Broderick (RSS/Tús Manager, GRD), Cllr Michael Connolly, and Conor Carty (Leader Manager, GRD).
