CHANGING LIVES ONE BREW AT A TIME @ THE GREEN BEAN CAFE

The Green Bean Café is changing lives one brew at a time. The Social Enterprise is situated in the Primary Care Centre Athenry - a community café that supports and empowers young adults with intellectual disabilities.

Our vision is to create a society where adults with learning disabilities have an equal and fair chance at obtaining and maintaining employment.

The Green Bean Café initiative was co-developed and co-designed by the People supported who contributed significantly to the planning, designing and branding of the Café. This enabled them to work and meet web designers, Barista suppliers and research and select the coffee, teas, food and healthy snacks sold at the café now. The staff are now gaining experience and skills of working on a Barista machine and on a touch-screen cash register. Following recent interviews ,six people have been deemed successful and will be offered some paid hours of work. We have four other candidates who will be placed on a panel. They will be included in future training and will be matched to vacancies as they arise in the Green Bean Café.
